Prescription Glasses & Eye Test in Hanoi

Your vision, our passion.

A free eye test, 20 to 30 minutes, whether you buy or not. Single-vision lenses are held in stock and are usually cut, fitted and ready the same day. Around a thousand frames to try on.

Tell us the date you leave Hanoi and we will only suggest lenses that can be finished before you go.

In short: an optician a short walk from Hanoi railway station, used mostly by visitors to the city. The eye test is free whether or not you buy. Single-vision lenses are held in stock and usually ready the same day; standard progressives take about 24 hours, and Essilor or ZEISS progressives three to four days. Essilor and ZEISS lenses, roughly a thousand frames, card payment accepted. A finished single-vision pair runs from 850,000₫ to 3,500,000₫, and that is one figure covering the frame and the lenses together, not a lens price with the frame added afterwards. Open until 21:30 every day, so an evening visit works.

GLASSES IN HANOI

Buying Glasses in Hanoi vs at Home

What actually differs — price, timing, lens brands, aftercare — and the five things worth checking before you buy anywhere.

EYE TEST

The Free Eye Test: What It Covers

Auto-refraction, trial frame, astigmatism and pupil distance, in 20 to 30 minutes. What free means here, and what we do not do.

SUNGLASSES

Prescription Sunglasses in Hanoi

Two ways to get sunglasses with your prescription, how to choose a tint, and the honest limit on polarised lenses.

Start with what happened

You do not need to know any lens vocabulary. Find the card below that sounds like your situation, then tell us that much when you walk in — or read it through first.

I need glasses fast and I am leaving Hanoi soon

Say your departure date first. Single-vision lenses are held in stock and are normally cut, fitted and ready the same day. We would rather tell you a lens will not be finished in time than take the order and hope.

What can be finished today, and what cannot →

I just want my eyes checked

That is a whole visit on its own here, and it costs nothing. A full refraction test takes 20 to 30 minutes, you get your numbers to keep, and there is no expectation that you buy anything. We test rather than copy the prescription off your current lenses, because those two are not the same thing.

What the free eye test actually covers →

I want new lenses in the frame I already own

You are welcome to bring it. We check the frame first and say plainly if it is too brittle or too worn to survive a re-fit, before anything is cut.

Which lens goes in it, and what that costs →

I am only free in the evening

We are open until 21:30, every day of the week, including weekends and holidays. If your daylight hours belong to the city, come after them. The eye test at 20:00 is the same test as the one at 10:00.

The collection

Around a thousand frames, out on the tables

Acetate, titanium and metal, including a lot of the slim Korean shapes. Nothing is behind glass — pick things up and try them.

There are wider fronts and higher bridges among them. This is the thing visitors from Europe and North America ask about most in an Asian optical shop, so say your usual size at the counter and those trays come out first. You are also welcome to bring a frame you already own and have new lenses fitted into it.

Stock turns over with each delivery. Message ahead and we will put a model aside for you.

What we do

  • Free eye test, a full refraction test whether or not you buy. Re-checks stay free for as long as you wear the pair.
  • Lenses: single vision, progressive (multifocal), blue-light filtering, photochromic and prescription sunglasses, from Essilor, ZEISS and other stocked manufacturers.
  • Frames: roughly a thousand in store, in acetate, flexible plastic, metal and titanium, including a large selection of Korean designs. You are welcome to bring your own frame.
  • Aftercare: adjustments, cleaning and new nose pads are free for as long as you own the pair. A genuine manufacturing fault is replaced.

How a visit works

Step 1

Message first, or just walk in

WhatsApp is the quickest way to reach us from a foreign number. Tell us your departure date if you are leaving Vietnam soon, and we will say straight away what can be finished in time.

Step 2

Eye test, then frames

A full refraction test, 20 to 30 minutes, free whether you buy or not. Then you try frames against that result and your face shape, not against a sales target.

Step 3

Collect, and have them fitted

Stocked single-vision lenses are usually ready the same day. We adjust them to your face before you leave, and adjustments stay free for as long as you own the pair.

What a pair costs

We agree the full figure with you before anything is cut, and every upgrade is quoted separately so you can turn it down. Where a price says frame and lenses together, that is the whole pair — not a lens price with the frame still to come. The final number moves with your prescription, the lens index and the coatings you choose.

Put in writing

Five things we will say out loud

  • The eye test is a test, not a reading of your old lenses

A full refraction in the testing room, 20 to 30 minutes, free whether you buy or not. A prescription older than a year gets re-tested rather than copied. You keep your numbers.

  • Aftercare is free for as long as you own the pair

Adjustments, cleaning, new nose pads, tightening, re-checks. Not a favour on the day — the standing policy. A genuine manufacturing fault is replaced.

  • Open 8:00 to 21:30, every day, holidays included

Getting glasses takes two visits: one to test, one to collect. Both fit into an evening. The test at 20:00 is the same test as the one at 10:00.

  • We ask your departure date before we suggest a lens

If a lens cannot be finished before you fly, you hear that first, not after you have paid. Some lenses take three to four days and we will say so.

  • The price is agreed in full before anything is cut

One figure, every option priced separately so you can refuse it. Nothing is added at collection. Card and cash both accepted.

If you are visiting Hanoi

Most of the people who walk in here are visitors, so the answers below are the questions we are actually asked at the counter. If you are on a short trip, tell us the date you leave Hanoi when you arrive. We will only recommend lenses that can be finished and fitted before you go. There are 23 more answers on the questions page if yours is not below.

I am only in Hanoi for a few days. Can I get glasses in time?
Usually yes. Single-vision lenses are held in stock and are normally cut, fitted and ready the same day. Standard progressives take about 24 hours. Essilor and ZEISS progressives are cut at the lab and take three to four days, so those need a little more room in your trip. High prescriptions or strong astigmatism may need custom-surfaced lenses. Those take 10 to 15 days. If you leave Hanoi before then, tell us at the eye test and we will say what is possible. Tell us your departure date and we will say plainly whether a lens fits or not.
Do I need to bring a prescription from home?
No. The eye test here is free, takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and you are not expected to buy afterwards. If you have a current prescription or your present glasses, bring them, it gives us a starting point. We will still test rather than copy a prescription that is more than a year old, because the numbers move.
How much does a pair cost?
A finished single-vision pair, frame and lenses together, runs from 850,000₫ to 3,500,000₫. As one concrete example, an Essilor blue-light filtering lens is 1,298,000₫ a pair. Progressive, photochromic and branded lenses cost more, and we will show you the price of each option before anything is cut.
What actually changes when a lens costs more?
Three things, in plain terms. Thickness: a higher index lens is thinner and lighter at the same prescription, which matters most above about 3 dioptres. Coatings: anti-reflective, scratch-resistant and blue-light filtering layers are what you pay for on top of the plain lens. Design: a progressive lens has a wider, smoother reading zone the more it costs. On blue-light filtering we will say what the evidence says: a 2023 Cochrane review found no clear benefit for eye strain, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology puts screen fatigue down mainly to blinking less. The anti-reflective layer does cut glare, which many people do notice. It treats no eye condition.
Do the staff speak English?
Yes, on every shift, including evenings. The eye test, the lens explanation and the fitting all happen in English if you prefer.
Can I pay by card, and can I bring my own frame?
Card and cash are both accepted. You are welcome to bring a frame you already own and have new lenses fitted into it, as long as the frame is sound enough to take them.
Can you deliver to my hotel, or ship the glasses to me at home?
Delivery within inner Hanoi is free, hotels included. If you fly out before the pair is ready, international shipping can be arranged; we confirm the destination, the cost and a realistic delivery time before you order.
Will anything here fit a larger face?
Yes. Among the thousand or so frames in store there are several sizes, including wider fronts and higher bridges. This is the question visitors ask most nervously and it is the one most easily settled by trying a few on.
What if the glasses need adjusting after I have left?
Adjustments, cleaning and new nose pads are free here for as long as you own the pair, so come back any time you are in Hanoi. A genuine manufacturing fault is replaced. For small tweaks once you are home, any optician can adjust the fit; the frames are standard.
