Warranty Policy
Glasses worn every day loosen, slip and pick up dirt. Most of that is not a fault, it just needs an adjustment. This page separates two things: the warranty when a product is faulty, and the free aftercare that keeps your pair fitting properly.
- A faulty product is exchanged one-for-one within one month.
- Eye tests, prescription re-checks, frame adjustments, cleaning and new nose pads are free for life, including on glasses bought elsewhere.
- In your first two weeks: a free eye test and prescription re-check.
1. One-for-one exchange within one month
If glasses bought from Manh Long Optical have a product fault, we exchange them one-for-one within one month of the day you received them. The faulty item is replaced with the same kind of item.
If new lenses have to be made, the usual lens times apply: stocked single-vision lenses usually the same day, standard progressives about 24 hours, premium Essilor progressives four to five days, premium ZEISS progressives seven to nine days.
What counts as a product fault
A fault is a defect that comes from manufacturing or from our own workmanship, and shows up under normal use. Some examples:
| Part | Examples of a product fault |
|---|---|
| Frame | A hinge, solder joint or screw that fails in normal wear; plating that flakes early without any knock |
| Lenses and coatings | A coating that peels, crazes or cracks without impact, heat or chemicals; a lens defect from the factory |
| Our fitting work | Lenses fitted off-centre, at the wrong astigmatism axis or with parameters different from the agreed order; a lens coming loose from the frame straight after collection |
2. What the warranty does not cover
The cases below are not product faults, so they are not exchanged under warranty. Many can still be repaired or adjusted, and we will tell you before doing any work.
- Accidents: dropped or knocked glasses, glasses sat or slept on, frames bent by force.
- Scratches from use: wiping with a shirt or tissue, lenses left face down on a table.
- Heat and chemicals: glasses left on a car dashboard, under a motorbike seat in the sun, near a stove; washing with hot water, alcohol or strong cleaners that strip the coating.
- Normal wear: yellowed nose pads, worn temple tips after long use. These are covered by free aftercare in section 3.
- Work done elsewhere: glasses that another shop has bent, soldered or fitted with new parts.
- A change in your eyes: prescriptions change over time, which is not a fault in the glasses. We re-test you for free so you know whether new lenses are needed.
- Lost glasses.
3. Free aftercare, for life
Just bring your glasses in. The following are free, as often as you need, including on glasses you bought somewhere else:
- Eye tests.
- Prescription re-measurement and re-checks.
- Frame adjustment, tightening screws, re-shaping the arms.
- Cleaning.
- Replacing nose pads.
- Other routine aftercare.
Glasses shift with wear. A pair that fits perfectly today can slide down your nose a few months from now. We straighten it while you wait. If you are travelling, drop in before you fly out and we will check the fit once more.
4. Free check in your first two weeks
In the first two weeks after you receive your glasses, come back for a free eye test and prescription re-check. This covers the period when your eyes are adjusting, especially with progressives, which usually takes from a few days to two weeks.
If the re-check shows the lenses were made differently from the agreed order, it is handled under the Returns Policy.
5. Manufacturer warranty cards
A warranty card is something the lens manufacturer supplies, and not every lens line comes with one:
- Essilor progressive lenses ordered through the Essilor lab: warranty card included.
- Essilor Eyezen lenses ordered through the Essilor lab: warranty card included.
- Standard Essilor blue-light filtering lenses: no card, only the lens packaging.
- Transitions Gen S lenses: warranty card and cleaning cloth included.
Card or no card, our one-month one-for-one warranty applies the same way. If your lens line has a card, keep it with your glasses case and bring it if you need a warranty claim.
6. How to make a warranty claim
- Bring the glasses to 147A Le Duan, open 8:00 to 21:30 every day. If you are no longer in Hanoi, contact us first and we will tell you how to send them.
- We inspect the frame, lenses and coatings, measure the lenses on our instruments and compare them with the agreed order.
- We tell you the result on the spot. If it is a product fault, it is exchanged one-for-one. If it is not, we explain why and what can be done, including any cost, before we do anything.
Please bring: the glasses, the manufacturer's warranty card if there is one, and the purchase document or the phone number you used when you bought.
7. Making your glasses last
- Rinse the lenses under cool water and dry them with a microfibre cloth or lens cleaner. Avoid alcohol, strong detergent and paper tissues.
- Take your glasses off with both hands so the frame stays straight.
- Keep them out of heat: car dashboards, motorbike seats in the sun.
- When you are not wearing them, put them in the case rather than lens-down on a table.
