Same Day Glasses in Hanoi
If you are in Hanoi for a few days and need glasses before you leave, the question is not whether it can be done. It is which lens you can have in the time you have got.
What can actually be finished in a day
| Lens type | Realistic time |
|---|---|
| Single vision, stock lens | Same day |
| Progressive (multifocal) | About 24 hours |
| Essilor or ZEISS ordered in | Three to four days |
| Unusual prescription or lens index | We tell you at the counter, before you pay |
Same day means the lens is already in the drawer and gets edged to your frame here. It is not a lesser lens — it is a common prescription in a common index, which most prescriptions are.
How long you actually stand in the shop
- Eye test: 20 to 30 minutes. Auto-refraction, then trial frame, then both eyes together, astigmatism, pupil distance.
- Choosing frames: as long as you like. Fifteen minutes if you know what you want.
- Cutting and fitting: we will give you a collection time, usually later the same day for single vision.
You do not have to wait in the shop while it is cut. Leave your number, walk into the Old Quarter, come back.
Tell us your flight date first
This is the one thing that changes the advice. If you are leaving in two days, we are not going to recommend a lens that takes four, however good it is. Say the date before you start choosing and the conversation gets shorter and more honest.
The reverse is also true: if you have a week, a better lens becomes worth considering, because you will be wearing it long after the trip.
If you already have a prescription
Bring it. We will still test, and here is why we do not simply copy it: prescriptions drift, and a number written more than twelve months ago is a starting point rather than an answer. The test is free and takes half an hour. It is cheaper than a pair of glasses you cannot wear.
Two formats catch people out. Prescriptions written abroad sometimes give the cylinder axis in a different convention, and some list the pupil distance and some do not. We measure the pupil distance here regardless.
What it costs
A finished single-vision pair — frame and lenses together — starts at 850,000₫. Frames on their own run 550,000₫ to 3,500,000₫, and the lens is quoted separately so you can see which half is which.
We agree the whole figure with you before anything is cut. If we suggest an upgrade, it is a separate line you can refuse.
The part worth reading twice
We want your business, so treat this section as the one to weigh.
If a pair made abroad turns out slightly wrong once you are home, the adjustment is not free any more — it is a flight away. What reduces that risk is spending the twenty minutes on a proper test rather than handing over an old prescription, and coming back the next day to have the fit adjusted after you have worn them for an evening. If you have a spare day before you fly, use it for that.
We keep your prescription on file. If a local optician needs it after you get home, message us and we will send it.
Common questions
- Can I get glasses in one day in Hanoi?
- Single-vision lenses in a stock index are usually finished the same day. Progressive lenses take about 24 hours. Essilor or ZEISS lenses that we order in take three to four days. Tell us your flight date and we will say what is realistic before you choose.
- How long does the eye test take?
- Twenty to thirty minutes: auto-refraction, then a trial frame, then both eyes together, astigmatism and pupil distance. It is free whether you buy or not.
- What does a single-vision pair cost?
- From 850,000₫ for the finished pair, frame and lenses together. Frames on their own are 550,000₫ to 3,500,000₫ and the lens is quoted separately, so you can see which half of the bill is which.
- Can you use the prescription from my own country?
- Bring it and we will read it, but we will also test. A prescription more than twelve months old is a starting point rather than an answer, and some foreign prescriptions leave out the pupil distance, which we measure here anyway.
- Do I have to wait in the shop while they are made?
- No. Leave a phone number and we will give you a collection time. Most people go into the Old Quarter and come back.
- What if something is wrong after I fly home?
- Message us on WhatsApp or Zalo with a photo. We cannot adjust them from Hanoi, but we keep your prescription on file and can tell you what to ask a local optician for. If you have a spare day before flying, come back and have the fit adjusted after wearing them for an evening.
